D.B Pariyar was a pioneering Nepali filmmaker best known for directing, writing, and shaping Satya Harischandra (1950), widely regarded as the first Nepali‑language feature film. Working from India during the early diaspora era of Nepali cinema, Pariyar helped establish the narrative, technical, and cultural foundations that later filmmakers would build upon. His contribution marked a defining moment in the transition from stage traditions to cinematic storytelling for Nepali audiences. Though historical documentation remains limited, Pariyar’s role as director, scriptwriter, and story creator positions him as one of the earliest architects of Nepali film history  

Samundra Bhatta is a Nepali filmmaker, director, and writer known for her bold storytelling and cultural depth. A graduate of Toronto Film School, she made her directorial debut with Aadha Page (2016), a romantic drama. Her breakthrough came with Gunyo Cholo: The Dress (2024), a powerful film exploring gender identity and social stigma, starring Najir Husen. The film was selected for the prestigious Photo Film Market in Seattle, USA, gaining international attention. Bhatta’s work blends traditional Nepali themes with contemporary narratives, reflecting her commitment to inclusive cinema. As a rising voice in South Asian film, she continues to challenge norms through visual storytelling.

Neer Bikram Shah, also known as Nir Shah, is a Nepalese movie actor, a poet, lyricist, movie director,media personality and businessman. He is related to the Royal family of Nepal. Neer Shah is the producer or co-producer of many Nepali movies. He has also directed several Nepali movies produced by himself, including Basudev, Pachchis Basanta, Basanti, and a Nepal Bhasa movie Rajamati. He is also a co-producer of the Oscar nominated film Himalaya – l’enfance d’un chef, which was co-produced and directed by the French movie maker Eric Valli. The film, also released as Caravan (in Canada) and Himalaya (in Denmark and France), was the first film from Nepal to win an Oscar nomination.
