Usha Poudel, born on July 18, 1983, in Janakpur, Dhanusa, Nepal, is a celebrated Nepali actress and dancer. Raised in Kathmandu, she was inspired by her family’s support and her innate passion for dance. Despite academic challenges, her vibrant personality and talent shone early.
At 13, during a dance performance, she was discovered by a representative from Audio Sound Industries, leading to her introduction to producer Ramkrishna Bajagai. Though initially too young for a role in Jangay, she later debuted in Karma, directed by Dayaram Dahal. Her breakthrough came with Muna Madan, Nepal’s submission to the 2004 Academy Awards.
Over her career, Usha has starred in over 40 films, including Godhuli, Timro Maya, Pyari Bahini, Ram Laxman, and Baaz. She has also appeared in TV serials like Karuna, Kasali Aafno Bhanum, and Dui Din Ko Jindagani.
Expanding her horizons, Usha moved to Mumbai, where she featured in Indian TV shows such as Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna, Adaalat, and Jai Jai Jai Bajrang Bali. In 2016, she married actor Sudhanshu Joshi in Virginia, USA.
In 2024, Usha made a special appearance in the Nepali film Tel Visa . Later that year, she married actor Rahul KC in the United States, marking a new chapter in her personal life .
Currently residing in the United States, Usha continues to engage with the Nepali entertainment community, participating in cultural events and performances. Her enduring dedication to the arts and her dynamic presence have solidified her status as a prominent figure in Nepali cinema.
