Upendra Subba (born 26 September 1971, Angsarang, Panchthar) is a leading Nepali poet, lyricist, writer, and filmmaker, widely respected for his role in shaping modern Nepali literature and cinema. A co‑founder of the influential literary movement Srijanshil Arajakta (Creative Anarchy) with Rajan Mukarung and Hangyug Agyat, Subba’s work blends Limbu cultural identity with contemporary social themes.His acclaimed literary contributions include poetry collections such as Dada Mathi Ko Gham Jun Ra Gadtirka Raake Bhut Haru (2002), Hongrayo Bhog Ra Pangra (2004), Kholako Gita Ra Purana Kavitaharu (2013), and the celebrated short‑story collection Lato Pahad (2014), which later inspired the film Keba Kokma.In cinema, Subba is known for his long collaboration with director Ram Babu Gurung, contributing to hit films including Kabaddi, Kabaddi Kabaddi, and Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi. Dipendra Lama is a renowned Nepali film director, writer, and former film journalist who transitioned into filmmaking after an 18‑year career in film journalism. He is widely recognized for directing successful films such as Ghampani (2017), Gopi (2019), Chha Maya Chhapakkai (2019), Dui Numberi (2022), and Nango Gaun (2023). His upcoming film Dukhi Aatma (2025) continues his trajectory as one of Nepal’s most consistent storytellers.Born into a Buddhist Tamang family, Lama began his professional journey in 2000 as a film journalist at Naya Sadak Daily, later contributing to major publications including Nepal Samacharpatra, Spacetime, Naya Patrika, Nepal Weekly Magazine, and Nagarik. His journalistic excellence earned him the Fine Art Journalism Award (2016) from the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.His directorial debut, Ghampani (2017), marked his shift from journalism to cinema, driven by his deep understanding of storytelling and social issues. Prakash Thapa is regarded as one of the legendary directors of Nepali cinema, known for shaping the visual and narrative style of the industry during its formative decades. Active primarily in the 1980s and 1990s, he directed several influential films that blended emotional storytelling with strong social themes, helping establish a more modern cinematic language in Nepal.
