Nabin Chauhan is a Nepali film director, storyteller, and founder of Artmandu, best known for his critically acclaimed feature film Unko Sweater (The Woolen Sweater). His filmmaking journey is rooted in theatre, years of creative exploration, and a transition from directing popular music videos to crafting emotionally rich, socially grounded cinema.Before entering feature films, Chauhan directed several hit music videos such as “Tinpate,” “Sunakhari,” “Baaf,” and “Batauli,” building a strong visual identity and narrative style. His shift to cinema culminated in Unko Sweater, a film celebrated for its warmth, cultural depth, and portrayal of rural Nepali life.Chauhan’s storytelling is shaped by his early years in Panchthar, his formative experiences in Shilpee Theatre, and his commitment to authentic, character‑driven narratives. Min Bahadur Bham was born in 1984 in Karkibada, Nepal. He graduated in Filmmaking and literature and holds a master’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy and Political Science. His passion for storytelling through film led him to create impactful works that resonate with audiences worldwide. Notable Films: “The Flute” (बाँसुल्ली, 2012): This short film marked a significant milestone—it was the first Nepalese film presented at the prestigious Venice Film Festival. Bham’s storytelling prowess and unique perspective shone through in this work. “Kalo Pothi” ( कालो पोथी 2015): “The Black Hen” कालो पोथी received critical acclaim and won several awards. It was selected as the Nepalese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards. Bham’s writing and direction in this film left a lasting impact. “A Year of Cold” (2019): This film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and received the Norwegian Sorfond Award. Bham’s ability to capture human emotions and societal nuances was evident in this powerful work. “Shambhala” (2024): “Shambhala” competed for the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival (BIFF). Jharana Thapa (born 28 March, Pyuthan) is a leading Nepali actress, producer, and director whose career has shaped mainstream Nepali cinema for more than two decades. Beginning her journey with the film Daijo in 1996, she quickly rose to prominence through her expressive screen presence and her acclaimed performance in Dharam Sankat, which established her as one of the defining actresses of the late 1990s and 2000s. Over the years she became a central figure in commercial Nepali films, appearing in more than seventy titles and becoming known for emotionally grounded roles in films such as Muglan, Jeevan Sathi, Purnima, Takdir, and the original A Mero Hajur. Her long career in front of the camera naturally evolved into filmmaking, and she transitioned into direction with A Mero Hajur 2 in 2017, later continuing the franchise with its third and fourth installments while introducing her daughter, Suhana Thapa, as a new-generation lead. She further expanded her directorial identity with Ek Bhagavad Ra Ek Geeta (2023), blending social themes with emotional storytelling. Married to producer Sunil Kumar Thapa since 1998, she has also been active behind the scenes as a producer, contributing to several successful films. Today, Jharana Thapa stands as one of the few Nepali women to achieve long-term stardom as an actress and then successfully transition into a commercially influential director, maintaining her position as a respected and enduring figure in Nepali cinema.
