Rikesh Gurung

Prajwal studied piano at 6 and is still learning. He performed extensively all over Nepal. He has been involved in a diverse multitude of musical projects extending across a comprehensive range of musical styles, including pop, rock, R&B, commercial music, Indian Classical, Western Classical, Jazz, Fusion, etc. as well as the broad spectrum of Nepali music collaborating with local, national and international artists. Involvement in the recording industry, commercial television production, music theatre, and teaching rounded out his activities in Nepal. Prajwal is a member of the Music Association of Nepal and has actively worked as a Keyboardist and a Music Director with International Franchise Television reality shows such as Nepal Idol, Voice of Nepal, SaReGaMaPa Li’l Champs, and other local reality shows. Prajwal has extensive experience in music performances. He worked in the prestigious music club of Nepal, “RAJGHARANA,” for three years and toured with many well-known Nepali, Indian, and other international musicians. He was also on the faculty of Nepal Music Center, Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory, and the University of North Texas, currently teaching Piano. Prajwal is currently focused on creating original music and is a member of several Nepali bands performing concerts with visiting international music artists.

The year 2004 introduced Moment of Bliss, the album that included the song Phul ko Akhaan Maa, which brought Ani Choying Drolma much acclaim. The song, written by Durga Lal Shrestha and composed by Nhyoo Bajracharya, went on to be one of the most played songs on media and one would be hard-pressed to find anybody in Kathmandu who hadn’t heard the tune. The song broke the monotony of the then popular music with its melody and easy flowing instrumentation and Ani’s soothing, almost meditative vocals. Although largely unrecognised by the public, Gopal Rasaily, the arranger of the song, also managed to gather appreciation for his work from others in the business; it represented a breakthrough for him in the Nepali music industry. Rasaily, who is also the in-house arranger at the Do Re Mi studio.

Aavaas is a Nepali singer and composer known for his soulful musical style and creative work under the nepa~laya banner. Recognized for his thoughtful songwriting and warm vocal tone, he has contributed to Nepal’s contemporary music scene through original compositions that blend modern sensibilities with emotional depth. His work reflects a commitment to authentic storytelling, making him a distinctive voice among Nepal’s new‑generation independent artists.

Norden Tenzing is a legendary Nepali vocalist and the charismatic frontman of The Hillians, the pioneering Darjeeling band that helped define the sound of modern Nepali pop and rock. Known for blending Western harmonies with Nepali melodic roots, he became one of the most influential voices of the 1970s–80s music renaissance in the hills. His evergreen hits — “Musu Musu Hasideu,” “Gajalu Aakhai Chopne,” and other beloved tracks — cemented his status as a cultural icon across the Nepali‑speaking world. Norden’s soulful voice, innovative arrangements, and electrifying stage presence introduced a fresh musical identity that inspired generations of artists. Through his work with The Hillians, he expanded the creative possibilities of Nepali modern music and remains celebrated as one of Darjeeling’s most enduring musical legends.
