Durga Kharel, born on the 5th of Kartik in Bhadrapur, Jhapa, is a talented Nepali singer known for her melodious voice. The youngest in a family of five siblings, Durga was always supported by her family, especially her parents Khem Raj and Laxmi Kharel. Musical Journey: Durga’s passion for music began in her childhood, but it wasn’t until she moved to Kathmandu in 2059 BS that she pursued it seriously. She completed her B. Music degree at Indira Sangeet Vidyaalaya, where she honed her skills. Her breakthrough came when she participated in Nepali Tara in 2062 BS, where she reached the top ten. This exposure led to several offers to sing in collection albums, and in 2064 BS, she released her debut solo album, Dil, which marked her as a recognized name in Nepali music. Hira Devi Waiba (1940–2011) was a pioneering Nepali folk singer whose voice became the soul of traditional Nepali music. Born in Ambootia, Darjeeling, she was the first artist to professionally record Nepali folk songs, including the first-ever Tamang Selo track “Chura ta Hoina Astura.” Her career spanned over four decades, during which she recorded more than 300 songs and worked with prestigious platforms like All India Radio, BBC, and His Master’s Voice. She was the first Nepali folk artist to be signed by Music Nepal and remains the only Grade A folk singer with All India Radio. Her timeless songs like “Phariya Lyaaidiyechan” and “Ramri Ta Ramri” continue to resonate across generations. After her passing in 2011, her children Navneet and Satya Aditya Waiba revived her legacy through the tribute project Ama Lai Shraddhanjali. Hira Devi Waiba remains a cultural icon and guardian of Nepali folk heritage.

Jerusha Rai is a Nepali indie singer-songwriter and music producer known for her experimental fusion of traditional Nepali folk sounds with contemporary pop, rock, and electronic influences. Born in Kathmandu, she attended St. Mary’s Secondary School and was immersed in Nepali folk music and instruments. Rai relocated to London for university studies and became involved with the Nepali diaspora music scene. Her self-released EP “We All Make Mistapes” gained attention, and her debut album “A Dark Place to Think” (2016) showcased her evocative songwriting. Her second album, “Sunsaan” (2019), explored Nepal’s political turmoil and mental health issues. Rai celebrates her indigenous Kiranti roots and uses music as a medium of healing. In 2023, she mysteriously disappeared after leaving her Kathmandu home without her phone, shocking Nepal’s music scene where she had been praised as a pioneering female indie artist and powerful creative voice. 🎵🌟

Mandabi Tripathi, born on July 13, 1982, in Sundarbazar, Lamjung District, Nepal, is a renowned Nepali singer celebrated for her contributions to the country's music industry. She completed her School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in 1997 and pursued further studies in music, earning an Intermediate in Fine Arts (I.F.A) from Tribhuvan University in 2000. Throughout her career, Mandabi has released numerous songs that have resonated with audiences.
