Mohan Sundar Shrestha

Saran Kumar Pradhan (1943–1974) was one of Darjeeling’s most gifted lyricists, composers, and mandolin virtuosos, shaping the golden era of modern Nepali music. Born on 4 May 1943, he grew up in a culturally vibrant Darjeeling and taught himself banjo, harmonium, and mandolin with remarkable mastery. A science graduate from St. Joseph’s College, he later taught at St. Robert’s School, where he also composed the school anthem. A student of maestro Amber Gurung, Saran emerged as a leading figure of Adhunik music alongside Aruna Lama, whom he married in 1963. Their partnership produced timeless classics such as “Yaha Ful Nakhili Cha,” “Sabaile Bhanthe,” “Hera Na Hera Kancha,” and many others. His music club Sangeet Sangam became a creative hub that nurtured Darjeeling’s finest talents. Saran passed away in 1974 at just 31, leaving behind a luminous body of work that continues to define Nepali musical heritage.

With 17–20 years of professional experience, he performs Nepali and Indian bamboo flute across world‑fusion, spiritual, folk, and contemporary styles, collaborating with local and international musicians.A versatile instrumentalist, he also plays percussions, didgeridoo, ukulele, and practices overtone singing, blending these elements into his global fusion sound. His work spans live performances, studio recordings, sound‑healing sessions, and independent album releases. His digital catalog includes albums such as Breath of Bansuri, Nepali Alaap, Didge Therapy, and the 2026 release SINGARY.Katuwal’s music is featured on platforms like YouTube, Bandcamp, and his official website, where he continues to expand his repertoire through collaborations and cross‑cultural projects.

Kiran Baral is a talented flutist known for his soulful renditions on the flute. He has captivated audiences with his melodious performances. Kiran, born in Samudratar, Nuwakot, was interested in music from an early age. Now he is traveling in that dream. Kiran is adept at playing the flute in all genres of music. Kiran is currently busy with reality shows, song recording, live music. He has been to different countries and many cities of Nepal for musical programs.
