Jayananda Lama (1956–2020) was a respected Nepali singer, actor, and cultural contributor known for his powerful folk‑based vocal style and memorable performances in Nepali cinema. A graduate of Lalit Kala Campus and an advocate of Nepali folk heritage, he recorded numerous hit songs and appeared in several films, earning recognition for his natural acting and deep musical understanding. His work blended authenticity, humor, and cultural storytelling, making him one of the beloved figures in Nepali performing arts.

Bimal Dangi is a celebrated Nepali folk singer known for his contributions to the genre of lok dohori. He hails from Juphal-07, Dolpa, Nepal, and has made a significant impact on the Nepali music scene with his soulful voice and engaging performances. Tilak Bam Malla, also known by his stage name Parivesh, is a Nepali folk-pop singer. He gained popularity in the late 90s with his second Lok Pop album, Parivesh Vol.2, which featured hit songs like Mutu Chune, Bhote Talcha, Haat Ma Rumal, and Chaite Dashain. He is considered a pioneer of the Lok Pop genre in Nepal. Malla has released numerous successful songs and albums, and his music continues to resonate with Nepali audiences. He also owns Parivesh Recording Studio, where he supports talented musicians who want to revolutionize the Nepali music industry. Beyond music, he has been involved in humanitarian efforts, especially during the devastating Nepal earthquake in 2015. Hira Devi Waiba (1940–2011) was a pioneering Nepali folk singer whose voice became the soul of traditional Nepali music. Born in Ambootia, Darjeeling, she was the first artist to professionally record Nepali folk songs, including the first-ever Tamang Selo track “Chura ta Hoina Astura.” Her career spanned over four decades, during which she recorded more than 300 songs and worked with prestigious platforms like All India Radio, BBC, and His Master’s Voice. She was the first Nepali folk artist to be signed by Music Nepal and remains the only Grade A folk singer with All India Radio. Her timeless songs like “Phariya Lyaaidiyechan” and “Ramri Ta Ramri” continue to resonate across generations. After her passing in 2011, her children Navneet and Satya Aditya Waiba revived her legacy through the tribute project Ama Lai Shraddhanjali. Hira Devi Waiba remains a cultural icon and guardian of Nepali folk heritage.
