Bhuwan Chand is a legendary Nepalese actress, widely recognized as the first actress in Nepali cinema. She was born on June 14, 1949, in Kuslechaur, Kathmandu, Nepal. Bhuwan Chand made her debut in the first Nepali feature film, Aama (1964), produced by the Nepal government. Her role in this historic film earned her the title of Nepal’s first actress.
Over her illustrious career, she appeared in several notable films, including Hijo, Aaja, Bholi (1967), Manko Baandh (1973), Sindoor (1980), and Santideep (1989). She has also been a prominent figure in Nepal’s national theater, Rastriya Nachghar.
