Harish Mathema is a Nepali pop and modern singer‑composer known for his evergreen romantic and soulful songs, active since the late 1980s and 1990s. His music blends soft pop, emotional melodies, and expressive vocals, making him a recognizable voice in Nepali pop history.He has performed widely in concerts and live shows, including a featured performance at Bianca Lounge, Kathmandu, where audiences enjoyed his signature songs such as “Aankhako Nani Hau Timi” and other classics from the golden era of Nepali pop.As a recording artist and composer, Harish Mathema has released multiple albums, including Swopnil Rangma (1990) and Hiund Barsat (2023), featuring songs like “Eak Nazar,” “Aayera Samu Timi,” “Kasari Birsu,” “Ki Ta Deu,” and “Mero Mutuko.” Many of these tracks credit him as both composer and vocalist, reflecting his dual musical identity.His classic song “Ek Najar”, originally released in 1988, was revived in the Old Durbar REWIND series, highlighting his lasting influence on Nepali pop culture.Across decades, Harish Mathema has remained active in Nepal’s music scene, contributing original compositions, performing live, and maintaining a loyal audience who continue to celebrate his timeless songs.

Red cap, white hand bands, white scarf, a locket having picture of eagle and leopard, loose clothes and long pants. Guess who’s he? Off course, he’s Nirnaya Shrestha AKA Nirnaya da NSK. He is the naughty soul kid of Nepali music without whom hip-hop or Rap music can’t even be imagined. While other musicians appeared and then disappeared, none were able to match Nirnaya’s standards. Nirnaya was born on 15th Feb. in Birgunj . His father Dr. Shantinath Shrestha went to America to complete his PHD and Nirnaya too moved with him in 1988. Nirnaya joined school in America but carried on guitar classes. He had X-factor in music from very beginning. He participated on most of his school shows. His singing career started from his very Mt. Loghl schooling in 1990. During those times, rap music was in its growth stage. Since, one could express all his life in a single song easily and could connect with the listeners; he was strongly influenced by it so he learned it. He also bagged president of frequency award in eighth standard. As soon as his father completed his PhD, Nirnaya came back to his land and joined St. Xavier School. He had to take tuitions for basic Nepali alphabet. With a view to introduce rap songs among Nepali listeners, he joined image fm in 1999 and started hosting a program name “Bring the house down”. Later after 5 months, he started recording an album for the same name with his group, “Nirnaya and Da’ all stars”. His group mates were Samir, Pranav Joshi, Shakeel and others. The failure of his group was his group mates’ different musical interests. Then after, Nirnaya joined Samrat. They jointly recorded a song Jhilili….. This song strengthened their relationship. In the mean time Rinchin also joined the team. The motive behind naming their group as “The Rappers’ Union” was just an idea of uniting the rappers. “The rappers’ union” released their first album, “For u all” in 2000. It also included English songs like “For u all” and “The game must go on”. More than 1000 CDs were sold by the Rappers’ Union themselves.  

Purshottam Gaire is a Nepali singer, composer, and lyricist known for his contributions to modern and folk Nepali music. He has gained popularity through heartfelt compositions and vibrant music videos that often celebrate cultural identity and emotional storytelling. His songs like Baini Ko Ka Paro, Gudai Jane Rel, and Nachyo Majura showcase his versatility and collaboration with artists such as Simran Pariyar, Devi Gharti, and Aakash Nepali.

Narayan Gopal Gurucharya (नारायणगोपाल गुरुआचार्य) (October 4, 1939 – December 5, 1990), known professionally as Narayan Gopal and N. Gopal  was a prominent popular singer and composer of Nepali music. Regarded one of the most significant cultural icons in Nepal, he is referred as “Swar Samrat” (Nepali: स्वर सम्राट, meaning: Emperor of Voice) in Nepal. He is also known as “Tragedy King” owing to his numerous tragedy songs. He also sang in Nepalbhasa. Owing to his vocal range he was capable of singing songs of every Nepalese genre. Often, his songs were accompanied by the sitar, harmonium and flute. He was also a music director during the 1950s to the 70s and belongs to the first generation of professional Nepali singers. His songs have been showcased in several movies and dramas across the country. Narayan Gopal released 137 songs during his lifetime, his first songs were composed by his friend Prem Dhoj Pradhan and his teacher Manik Ratna. Gopal is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century and received many awards during his lifetime.
