Starting from her early childhood in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, Sakuntala Sharma (born 2008 B.S.) grew into one of Nepal’s most respected theatre artists and actresses, known for her expressive performances and deep commitment to stagecraft. She began acting at the age of ten with the play Palansko Phool, marking the start of a lifelong dedication to Nepali theatre. In 2033 B.S., she entered an inter‑caste arranged marriage with actor and theatre director Harihar Sharma, forming one of Nepal’s most influential artistic partnerships.Sakuntala became widely recognized for her powerful roles in acclaimed plays such as Kosanga Judhaun, Manis ra Mukundo, Pahad Chichyairahechha, Farkera Herdā, Kankal, Chyatitako Parda, and Parkhalbhitra. Her transition to cinema in the 1970s brought memorable performances in Hijo, Aaja ra Bholi, Badlindo Aakash, Vasudev, Mayapriti, Chokho Maya, Chelibeti, Sindoor, and Santaan Tharitharika. She also contributed significantly to Radio Nepal through numerous radio dramas, strengthening her legacy as a versatile and enduring performer in Nepali performing arts.

Prabin Khatiwada, a versatile Nepali actor, has left an indelible mark in the world of performing arts. Let’s delve into his journey and notable achievements: Birth Year: Prabin Khatiwada was born in 1984 in Letang, Morang, in the eastern part of Nepal. Early Interest: Even during his school days, Prabin felt drawn to performing arts. Despite being considered a good student, he couldn’t resist the allure of the stage. Gurukul Theatre: His life took a significant turn when he visited Gurukul Theatre during his journalism studies at Ratna Rajya Campus. Watching actors express themselves on stage ignited a spark within him, and he knew he wanted to be part of this world. Acting Journey: In 2004, Prabin joined Gurukul Theatre as an in-house actor. His first play was “Agniko Katha”, written by Abhi Subedi and directed by Sunil Pokharel. This experience revealed that acting was not as easy as he had initially thought. Turning Point: In 2009, when Gurukul Theatre faced closure, director Nischal Basnet approached Prabin with a script for a short film. Recognizing its potential, Prabin proposed turning it into a full-length feature film. The result was the movie “Loot”, which became a massive success and provided a lifeline for the struggling actors. Notable Roles: “Loot”: Prabin’s role in this film catapulted him to fame. It was a pivotal moment in his career, especially considering the challenging circumstances at the time. He also holds the record for making Nepal’s longest teleserial of 980 episodes which ran on Nepal 1 television from 2004 to 2007. Budhathoki also made Nepal’s first teleserial called Bacha Birseko Chaina (Haven’t Forgotten Promise) in 1986.
