She later transitioned into music, forming an all-girls band with Pushpa Sunuwar and Chanda Lama, and released music albums that showcased her vocal talent. Her acting debut came in the film Papi, alongside Rajesh Hamal and Bipana Thapa, directed by Narayan Puri. Despite a vibrant career, Pooja Lama stepped away from the spotlight around 2009–2010. Her personal life, including high-profile relationships and a brief conversion to Islam during a stay in Doha, often made headlines.
