In 2039 BS, Ratna Recording Sansthan launched the historic nationwide campaign “Pratibhāko Khoji” (Search for Talent). At that time, Nepal did not yet have television, and the music scene was largely confined to Kathmandu. After Ganesh Rasik became the head of the institution in 2038 BS, he initiated this national talent‑search program to discover and uplift musical talents from across the country.Winners of the competition were awarded the rare opportunity to record songs at Ratna Recording Sansthan, which was considered the highest dream for emerging artists. Senior experts from Radio Nepal served as judges, and recording a song on gramophone disc was regarded as a prestigious milestone for any new singer.No participant was declared first in the competition.Second place was shared by Rabin Sharma and Swapnashes Shakya.Third place went to Umesh Pandey, and sixth place to Madhur Pradhan.The judging panel included respected figures such as Raj Upadhyaya, Hemanta Adhikari (Garud), and others.
