She initiated her artistic journey at the tender age of nine, performing a dance routine for King Birendra's birthday celebration. This early exposure paved the way for a prolific career spanning over four decades.​ In 1986, Mithila made her film debut in "Biswas," portraying a dance teacher—a role that underscored her dual talents in acting and dance. Her performances in films such as "Mukundo: Mask of Desire" (2000), "Karma" (2006), and "Undone by Love" (2004) have been particularly acclaimed, showcasing her versatility and depth as an actress. Beyond her on-screen endeavors, Mithila has been dedicated to nurturing the next generation of performers. She has imparted her knowledge of singing and dancing at institutions like Kantishwori and St. Mary's High School in Nepal. Her commitment to the arts extends to the stage, where she has participated in over 25 plays and directed numerous musicals.​ In her personal life, Mithila married former Inspector General of Police Motilal Bohara in 2014. Since her childhood, Shilpa Maskey has been involved in dancing winning various competition throughout her school life. Her passion towards dance gave her the opportunity to play in a short movie "Shooting an Elephant" opposite "Revenge" tv series actor Barry Sloan. The movie was directed by J.P. Rothie, Screenplay by Alec Sokolow (Toy Story) & Cinematography by Daron Keet (Goal). As she came from dance background, her love for creative field grew thus exploring different fields like modeling, acting and styling. She has done numerous photo shoot from jewellery campaigns to clothing campaigns and has also been featured in M&S cover. She also works as Style Coordinator for M&S.
