Uday Sotang

Kamal Khatri, born on 8th Mangshir in Hetauda, is a prominent figure in the Nepali music scene. Growing up in a musical family, Kamal's father, Puskar Bahadur Gotame Khatri, worked in a bank, while his mother, Laxmi Devi Khatri, was a homemaker. Though Kamal spent his early childhood in Hetauda and later Sarlahi, it was his passion for music that shaped his path. Early Life and Education: Kamal completed his schooling at Shree Chakra Janta Higher Secondary School and later pursued his higher education at R.R. College. However, his heart was always set on music, and after completing his S.L.C., Kamal decided to follow his dreams, moving to Kathmandu in 2059 BS to immerse himself in the city's vibrant music scene. Musical Journey: Kamal’s early days in Kathmandu were full of challenges. He initially worked as a technician in a local studio, which allowed him to gradually familiarize himself with the music industry. In 2062 BS, Kamal made his debut by recording his first song, marking the beginning of his musical career. His big break came when he joined Ethos Band in 2063 BS as the lead vocalist. The band’s songs, especially Nakkali Maiya, brought Kamal into the limelight, but it was the iconic track Sustari Suatari that truly cemented his place in Nepali music. Solo Career: Building on the success of his time with Ethos Band, Kamal Khatri pursued a solo career and released his first album, Pida. The album was a huge hit, with songs like Pida and Sambodhan becoming fan favorites. His music videos gained widespread airplay on television and FM stations, solidifying his reputation as a talented and influential artist in Nepal. Avay Dhungel is a singer, musician and songwriter. Most of the songs they sing, they give their own words and music. Born in Okhaldhunga, Pokali VDC, folk singer Avay Dhungel recently lives in the US. Avay's father Nabin Dhungel is also a popular folk singer. Avay sang 'purbeli kanchho', 'supari jai ko mala', aakashaima are very popular songs, "Sali Bhena" is the most popular song he has given to music. Over two dozen songs have been voiced by Avay Dhungel so far and six albums have been released.

Prabhu Raj Dhakal is a renowned Nepali classical vocalist, composer, and music educator, currently serving as a vocal teacher at the Music Department of Kathmandu University and Nepal Music School. Born on 29th Shrawan 2025 B.S., he is the son of the legendary Sangeet Pravin Pragya Pandit Nara Raj Dhakal and Jyoti Dhakal. Growing up in Dhobichaur, Chhetrapati, he was surrounded by music from an early age, with many prominent radio singers frequenting his home to learn from his father. Inspired by this rich musical environment, Dhakal developed a deep-rooted passion for classical music. Though initially advised by his father not to pursue music professionally, his dedication and progress eventually earned his father’s support. He began teaching classical vocals over two decades ago, first as a substitute for his father and then full-time as student numbers grew. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the classical music scene in Nepal. His notable albums include ‘Moment’, a collaboration with fellow musicians, and ‘Sohani’, featuring his compositions performed by his students. He is also a founding member of the classical ensemble Dafa, alongside Suresh Bajracharya and Rabin Shrestha. The group not only performs but also organizes annual events to honor veteran artists who have contributed to Nepali music.

Sangeeta Mukhiya Chochun is a talented Nepali singer known for her contribution to modern Nepali music. She has performed in various cultural events and programs of Nepal and international level. Many of her songs have won the hearts of the audience. Her music often mixes traditional, folk and classic Nepali elements with contemporary styles, making him a beloved figure in the Nepali music community.
