Subima Shrestha is a renowned Nepali Kathak dancer, choreographer, and dance educator known for her contribution to classical dance, contemporary collaborations, and dance education in Nepal. With more than 15 years of experience in dance, she has established herself as one of Nepal's prominent Kathak artists.Born and raised in Patan, Lalitpur, Subima developed a deep passion for dance and began her formal training at Padma Kanya College under her first guru Honey Shrestha. She later received a scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and completed her Bachelor's degree in Kathak from Shri Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra, New Delhi, India, one of India's leading institutions for performing arts education.A versatile artist, Subima specializes in Kathak, while also exploring Charya dance, contemporary movement, theatre, and cross-cultural collaborations. She is known for blending traditional Kathak techniques with new creative expressions. She has choreographed classical dance sequences for the Nepali film "Soongava" and has participated in numerous national and international performances.She is the founder of Nritya Aagan, a dance school based in Lalitpur, where she teaches Kathak and nurtures young dancers. Through her teaching, choreography, and performances, she continues to promote classical dance traditions and inspire the next generation of performing artists.
