Bimala Rai

Shambhu Rai (शम्भु राई) is a legendary figure in Nepali music—a singer, songwriter, composer, and sarangi player whose work bridges traditional folk and modern styles. Born in Chungmang, Dhankuta, he rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s with his heartfelt lyrics and distinctive voice. Some of his most iconic songs include: “Chitthi Timilai Lekhu Bhanchu” “Yo Man Bhanchha Kaha Jau” “Chalechha Batas Sustari” “Aalu Dam Chana” He is also known for his mastery of the sarangi, a traditional Nepali string instrument, which adds a soulful texture to his compositions. Beyond performance, Shambhu Rai has contributed to the institutional development of Nepali music—he currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama.

Jhuma Niraula is a Nepali singer whose musical journey began in Nepali Tara Season 1 (2005), where she first stepped into the national spotlight as part of Nepal’s earliest reality‑show generation of emerging vocalists. Manmohan Thapaliya is a Nepali Hindustani classical vocalist and music artist dedicated to the preservation and promotion of classical vocal traditions through performance, study, and musical practice. Known for his commitment to classical music, he has contributed to Nepal's classical music community through vocal recitals, cultural programs, and musical collaborations.Thapaliya pursued advanced studies in Hindustani classical music and completed his Master's Degree in Sangeet Sangyan (Music) from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya (IKSVV), Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh, India, one of India's renowned universities dedicated to music and performing arts education.His academic training at IKSVV strengthened his understanding of classical vocal techniques, raga, tala, and traditional music theory. Alongside his formal education, he continues to contribute to the classical music field through performances and artistic activities. His recordings and collaborations reflect his engagement with contemporary platforms while maintaining a foundation in Hindustani classical music.

Lasata Joshi is a versatile Nepali vocalist whose career spans over three decades, blending modern melodies with cultural depth. She began her musical journey with the album Aachanak in 2050 B.S. (1993/94 A.D.), marking her entry into Nepal’s contemporary music scene. Early Recognition Lasata’s talent was evident from a young age. She won first prize in the Nationwide Inter-school Music Competition in 2050 B.S. and earlier in the Nepal Bhasa Song Competition in 2045 B.S., showcasing her command over both Nepali and Newar musical traditions. Career Highlights Over the years, Lasata has lent her voice to a wide range of genres—from romantic ballads to ghazals and Nepal Bhasa songs. She has also contributed vocals to popular commercials, including jingles for Fair & Lovely and Lifebuoy, making her voice familiar to households across Nepal.
