Ramesh Dahal is a Nepali lyricist who is writing lyrics for two and a half decades. Ramesh was born as an elder son of Pashupati Prasad and mother Balkumari Dahal in Dolakha. He has penned over a thousand songs. Among them, around three hundred songs are in the playlist of music lovers. He earned MSc. in Environmental Science & Policy from the USA (Source: Naya Youbodh, Dec 14, 2019). Also, he has taken online lyrics writing classes from Canvas.net and Sameer Anjaan, an Indian lyricist. Ramesh's journey on writing lyrics has begun as a poet. However, he turned himself writing lyrics from 1990. Latter, the writing became a kind of passion and now it is a responsibility of him to portray the lyrics for the listeners from each corner. The learning from real-world work experience has enabled him to captures the heart touching subject matters of very common people (Source: Music Khabar, January 1, 2020). Latter, Ramesh extends knowledge conducting research on Nepali music, songs and their impacts on the transformation of Nepali society. He expresses that after a certain time of contribution to a particular field, the experiences need to be shared with the wide arena. Keeping the fact in mind, Ramesh has written dozens of research articles that may serve as a reference to the interested persons who explore Nepali songs and music (Source: Annapurnapost, October 20, 2019). Also, Ramesh enjoys writing lyrics/poems on global issues in the English language. These creations seem meaningful in the international music market. So, it is hoped that his creations in English will get an appropriate place in the days to come (Source: Music Khabar, January 1, 2019).

Kusum Gajmer was a celebrated Nepali lyricist who made a distinguished contribution to Nepali film music. Born in Darjeeling, India, in Asoj 2002 B.S., she became one of the most influential female songwriters in the industry. Her popular and evergreen songs include “Kasari Bhanu Ma Manko Kura Yo,” “Ke Sochen Malle Ke Bhayo Ahi,” “Mohani Lagla Hai,” “Chiyabarima,” “Reli Khola Bagar,” “Pirati Napap Hundo Raichha,” “Beertako Chino Veerko Santhan,” and “Maya Ke Hola.” Her lyrics enriched classic films such as Kusume Rumal, Lahure, Chino, Behuli, Basuri, and Darpan Chhaya. She was the wife of renowned musician Ranjit Gajmer and mother‑in‑law of filmmaker Tulsi Ghimire.Her memorial day is observed on 18 Jestha 2074 B.S.

Arun Tiwari is a celebrated Nepali lyricist best known for penning timeless and emotionally charged songs that have touched millions. His lyrics—rich in human psychology, deep emotion, and poetic insight—reflect the bittersweet truths of life, love, and solitude. A prime example is his iconic song, "Janminda Eklai, Marda Ni Eklai", sung by Karna Das. The song became a cultural phenomenon and a defining moment in both their careers. Early Life & Inspiration Born on September 21 in Kathmandu, Arun was raised by his late parents Sudhanidhi Tiwari and Lalita Tiwari. From a young age, he was drawn to literature and poetry. He began writing poems during his school years at Shaheed Smarak and Bijaya Smarak schools. Inspired by his uncle, the eminent poet Bhimnidhi Tiwari, Arun’s talent blossomed as he presented his work at various school and national events, often rewarded with notebooks and pens—a testament to his early recognition. Academic Journey Arun completed his higher education at Tri-Chandra Campus, later earning a degree in History from Tribhuvan University. Despite his academic path, it was poetry and songwriting that truly defined his life's purpose. Musical Career & Milestones His songwriting journey began in earnest in 2049 B.S. (1992 A.D.) with the song "Sapana Hainan Mera Najarma" during his college years. Encouraged by friends, he approached composer Tika Bhandari, and the song was later recorded at Music Nepal's Kalikasthan studio by singer Nagendra Shrestha, with a modest budget of NPR 4,000. However, it was his 2058 B.S. song "Janminda Eklai", written in just three minutes, that catapulted him to national fame. In 2059 B.S., Ranjana Cassette Center paid NPR 30,000 for the lyrics—an unprecedented amount at the time for a single song’s words, marking a milestone for lyricists in Nepal. Arun has since written over 1,000 songs, with more than 400 composed and recorded. His work spans themes of heartbreak, romance, reflection, and societal truths. He shares a fond memory of Prakash Sayami, who once gifted him a wrapped book—“Mera Kuch Saaman” by Gulzar—saying, “You have the flavor of Gulzar. This book is for you.” Arun still treasures that book as a symbol of mentorship and recognition. Legacy Arun Tiwari’s journey from a school poet to one of Nepal’s most respected lyricists is a testament to passion, perseverance, and artistic integrity. Through his heartfelt lyrics and poetic soul, he continues to inspire a new generation of artists and music lovers alike.

Basu Sashi was a pioneering Nepali poet, playwright, novelist, lyricist, and translator whose creative influence spanned literature, theatre, and cinema. Born on Chaitra 13, 1993 B.S. in Pashupati, Kathmandu, he founded the literary circle Rodi, where he worked alongside Bhupi Sherchan, Krishnabhakta Shrestha, Himanshu Thapa, and Kumar Nepal. Celebrated primarily as a poet, he also excelled in drama, fiction, songwriting, and translation, publishing more than two dozen works in Nepali and Newari. He wrote for the films Maya (2047‑10‑12) and Lobhi‑Papi (2047‑12‑15), the latter being especially associated with his name. He passed away on Chaitra 4, 2049 B.S. at Tata Memorial Hospital in India, and was cremated in Kathmandu the following day.
