Often referred to as a "living legend" in Nepali music, he is known for his soothing voice and profound lyrics that explore philosophical and existential themes, perseverance, hope, and patriotism. He began his musical journey as the lead vocalist of the band Madhyanha, with their first song "Jindagi Ko Ke Bharosa" becoming an instant classic. Karna Das is skilled in playing piano, guitar, and bass guitar, and draws inspiration from artists like Elton John, Richard Marx, and Narayan Gopal. Originally from Kathmandu, he holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata, India, and a Professional Certificate in Logic Pro X from Berklee College of Music, Boston. He is a multi-instrumentalist and a prolific music arranger, having worked on a wide range of projects—from devotional compositions to film scores. Notably, he contributed to the Guinness World Record-holding song “Melancholy” and arranged music for Nepali films like Timi Sanga and Ma Yesto Geet Gauchu 2. Sukmit Gurung, originally Sukmit Ongmu Lepcha, is a Nepali singer known for her contributions to modern classical Nepali music. She was born in Gangtok, Sikkim, and later settled in Nepal. Her musical journey began when she won a voice contest organized by Radio Nepal, which helped her establish herself in the Nepali music industry. She debuted in Ambar Gurung's musical play "Malati Mangale", and her first recorded song was "Sunchadi Bhanda Mahango", a duet with Om Bikram Bista. Some of her most popular songs include "Priyatam", "Relimai", "Pal Pal", and "Dhoka Dieu Timile". She has sung over 400 songs, collaborating with renowned musicians like Gopal Yonzon, Ambar Gurung, and Sambhujeet Baskota. Beyond Nepali music, she has also performed in Newari and Japanese and represented Nepal in the ABU Golden Kite WSF 1990, an international music festival.
