Bibek Shrestha: Capturing Moments Through the Lens Bibek Shrestha is a gifted young photographer hailing from Nepal. His journey into photography began early—almost as if it were destined. 📷 Born into a family of photographers, Bibek’s childhood was steeped in the art of capturing moments. His father, a professional photographer, owned the renowned “Machhindra Photo Studio,” established back in 1978 in Tangal, Lalitpur, Nepal. With such a rich heritage, it’s no wonder that Bibek’s passion for photography bloomed from an early age. He inherited not just the technical skills but also the love for storytelling through images.

Kishor Kayastha is a pioneering Nepali photographer and visual artist whose career spans over three decades, beginning with his early explorations in Bhaktapur using a box camera from his family’s photo studio. A self‑taught artist, he rose from darkroom practice and childhood experimentation to become one of Nepal’s most influential photographers, known for blending tradition with contemporary artistry. His panoramic works—especially the acclaimed Mustang: Nostalgia – A Two‑Decade Odyssey—push the boundaries of landscape photography, offering immersive meditations on time, culture, and impermanence. Kayastha’s exhibitions since 2001 have established photography as a serious art form in Nepal, and his experimental series continue to inspire a new generation of photographers.

Min Ratna Bajracharya is widely celebrated as one of Nepal’s pioneering photojournalists, known for his instinctive eye and deep connection to the streets of Kathmandu. His career spans over three decades, during which he captured some of the most iconic moments in Nepal’s political and cultural history. One of his most famous photographs is of student activist Durga Thapa during the 1990 People’s Movement—leaping with vermilion-stained fingers in a double victory sign. That image became a powerful symbol of Nepal’s democratic awakening. Bajracharya’s journey into photography was unconventional. He began selling postcards and helping tourists in Swayambhu, gradually developing a keen sense of visual storytelling. Despite working as a tailor for years, his passion for photography never waned. Even as he approached retirement, Bajracharya remained humble and hopeful about the next generation of photographers, praising their speed and adaptability in the digital age.
