Cobweb is a hard rock band from Patan, Nepal. Formed in 1993 by a group of school friends, they released their first album, “Anjaan”, which didn’t achieve much success. However, their second album, simply titled “Cobweb”, gained popularity with songs like “Maryo ni Maryo”, shaping the Nepalese rock scene. The band is considered a trendsetter in modern Nepali music. Despite initial societal resistance due to unconventional attire (long hair and male earrings), their subsequent albums found favor among youths. Their music video for “Maryo ni Maryo” became a hit and was aired on Image Channel via Nepal Television. Cobweb’s imagery draws from Western heavy metal, but their promotion strategy aligns with traditional Nepali music. Here are some of their albums:
Members of the band include Divesh Mulmi (Guitar/Vox), Nilesh Joshi (Bass), Siddhartha Dhakhwa (Drums), Sujan Tandukar (Guitars), and Ashis Gurung (Vocalist). Former members include Urdeep Joshi, Mahesh Nakarmi, Pawan Shakya, and others. Cobweb has performed in various countries, including Europe, Australia, the USA, and Dubai.
